Juicing Recipes - Which Juicer?

Recently in Juicing Recipes I mentioned, not to race and and buy a juicer. You might even have equipment in your kitchen that will work for you.

On this note I saw last week in Aldi a food processor blender that had a citrus juicer ( reamer), plus a juice extractor, a food processor and blender all for $ 99 aud. This also grates, slices. has a chopping blade. An amazing combination.

I have owned many different types of juicers and currently have a Samson 6 in 1, which we bought primarily for juicing our homegrown wheatgrass, 3 years ago.

This replaced a Healthy Juicer - Manual Hand Powered Wheatgrass Juicer - Wheat grass juicer and a centrifrugal juicer like the L'eqiup pictured below

There are differing opinions on what's the best one.

Johnathon Hardcastle has an good article titled "Finding the Perfect Juicer"
where he discusses this : " The main reason why there is not a "perfect" juicer is because different fruits and vegetables have vastly different properties. This ultimately means that a juicing method which is effective for a particular type of fruit may not be the best choice for another.......

What I have discovered is that the Samson produces more juice per kilo of fruit and vegetables than L'Equip, but is not as good for soft fruits, which I prefer to blend and then add to the juice.

Juicing Recipes : A Synergistic Blend

Making a juicing recipe that has a synergistic blend of ingredients was given to me by my Naturopath friend Penny when we were staying at her home one weekend.

Synergistic: A mutually advantageous conjunction where the whole is greater than the sum of the part
A synergistic juicing recipe:

2 carrots
2 sticks of celery
1 green apple
1 knob of ginger

Wash all vegetables and cut to fit your juicer. If you don't have a juicer, cut pieces up and blend with filtered water. Suggest half a cup, but adjust to your liking.

The benefits of this juice are good, as it has the nutrients of beta-carotene, folic acid, vitamin C, calcium, and potassium.

Benefits from this juice:

  • Will help detoxify and cleanse your body.
  • An energy juice
  • Assist your immune system
  • Assist the body's metabolism, hence the digestive system
  • May be skin beneficial

Juicing Recipes : Getting Started

The juicing recipes that I am going to present on this will use a variety of different juicing equipment.

As I have read in many books about juicing, don't rush out and buy a juicer,
looking your kitchen cupboard and you may find you have enough equipment to get started.

When I was a child there was always freshly squeezed orange juice for
everyone for breakfast, squeezed by my father. In season his would be from the
tree that grew in our backyard.

This is probably the simplest and easiest juice for anyone as all it requires is a hand squeezer. Something most of us have in the kitchen.
If you want to spice up the taste, you can add a squeeze of lemon or lime, juice a grapefruit, tangerine or mandarin. Some finely grated fresh ginger will add some zing.

The aroma of freshly squeezed oranges is great way to start the day.

You may have a special orange recipe you would like to share in the comments.
